Debbie Pinjuv - Board MemberDebbie Pinjuv is the Executive Director of the Healing Moves Foundation.  She founded the Healing Moves nonprofit organization in an effort to help people with health challenges improve their quality of life through physical activity.  Debbie experienced firsthand the healing power of exercise while battling progressive liver failure and eventually undergoing a lifesaving liver transplant.  (Read more about Debbie’s story.) 

 

Debbie holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology.  In 1998, she founded a nonprofit organization called The Transplant Network to help transplant patients in the State of Nevada.  She has been the Executive Director of The Transplant Network since its inception.  Prior to working with The Transplant Network, Debbie was a Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice, specializing in helping people faced with catastrophic illness.

     

Bill Duvall - Board MemberBill Duvall is a member of the Board of Directors of the Healing Moves Foundation.  He is a physical fitness professional and personal trainer at South Reno Athletic Club in Reno, Nevada.  Bill has an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certification and has many years of experience working with people involving a wide range of sports, such as mixed martial arts, boxing, and basketball.  Bill has helped many people who have health challenges and finds that helping this special population very rewarding.  His experience and advice on physical activity for the health challenged is invaluable to our organization.

     

John Pinjuv - Board MemberJohn Pinjuv is a member of the Board of Directors of the Healing Moves Foundation.  He is the President and Broker of Grubb & Ellis, NCG, a business specializing in commercial real estate services.  He has been an active member of Nevada’s business community for over 30 years.  He is a member of the Grubb & Ellis Affiliate Leadership Council.  John has also served on the Board of Directors of Northern Nevada Bank and The Transplant Network.

     

   

Liz Christoffersen is a recent addition to the Board of Directors of the Healing Moves Foundation.  She is the Founder and CEO of Empower Consulting Group, a global strategy and results company.  She lends her expertise in strategic planning and implementation to the team.  Having experienced her own health challenges while trying to maintain a high profile career, Liz’s commitment to a balanced, healthy lifestyle marries well with the vision of Healing Moves.  She often speaks to leaders in organizations offering tips on how to create healthy work habits and environments. Her commitment to serve the community and her passion for service excellence has led to engagements on the board of numerous non-profits and service based organizations. 

 

  

The Healing Moves Foundation is honored to welcome Carol Krucoff, RYT to our Advisory Board of Directors. Carol is an award-winning journalist and fitness expert. She is the founding editor of the Health Section of The Washington Post, where her nationally syndicated column, Bodyworks, appeared for twelve years. Carol and Mitchell are the authors of “Healing Moves.” Carol’s new book “Healing Yoga for Neck and Shoulder Pain” has just been released this May 2010.  She is a yoga therapist at Duke Integrative Medicine in Durham, North Carolina.
 
 
The Healing Moves Foundation is honored to welcome Mitchell Krucoff, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.C.C.P.to our Advisory Board of Directors. Mitchell is Professor of Medicine/Cardiology and an Interventional Cardiologist at Duke University Medical Center. He is internationally recognized for his pioneering research in many areas, including complementary therapies in patients with heart disease, computer-assisted heart monitoring and new modalities of coronary revascularization. His clinical trials include patients and hospitals in five continents, and he lectures globally on these and related topics. Mitchell is the distinguished author of over 100 publications in the cardiology literature and book chapters in medical texts. Mitchell and Carol Krucoff are the authors of “Healing Moves.” 
 
 
 
OUR TEAM
 

The Healing Moves Foundation is honored to welcome Kevin Pinjuv, representing our organization in Washington, D.C.  Kevin graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Political Science.  He has worked at several nonprofits dedicated to improving the lives of our communities.  He served as a legal assistant at both the Human Rights Campaign and  People For the American Way.  He currently serves as the Assistant Programs Officer at the D.C. College Success Foundation.  A Bill and Melinda Gates funded organization, the Foundation provides college scholarships and mentoring to low income, high potential students in Wards 7 and 8 of Washington D.C. 

 

  

 Melanie Troskas
Melanie Troska is a valued Healing Moves member, lending her expertise in nutrition and healthy eating.  Melanie holds a B.S. degree in both Biology and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Nevada, Reno.  She also has a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certification.  Melanie is a nutrition consultant, fitness professional and personal trainer at Double Diamond Athletic Club in Reno, Nevada.  She is committed to the mission to end childhood obesity, believing we can change the world if we start with our children.

     

The Healing Moves Foundation is honored to have Bonnie Dodson join our team. She has over 12 years of experience in the personal training industry. She is a versatile trainer with multiple skill-sets. Her specific specialty skills include post-rehab, chronic injuries, weight loss, functional training-injury prevention as well as female athletic training. (Bonnie herself is a former division-1 vollyball player.) Bonnie’s qualifications include a BS in Exercise Physiology with a minor in nutrition. She holds national certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

 

The Healing Moves Foundation welcomes Jason Johnson to our team. Jason has been a personal trainer for nearly ten years, receiving his certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant. Jason received his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology- Exercise Science as well as receiving a Strength and Conditioning certificate from California State University-Sacramento. He is currently seeking his Masters degree in Human Movement.

 

 

The Healing Moves Foundation welcomes Lisa Castaneda to our team. Lisa is a 9 year veteran in the fitness industry. She provides one on one personal training, group training and pilates instruction (individual and group). She holds a national certificate through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is also a certified Reformer Pilates instructor. From weight loss to pilates to post-rehab, Lisa prides herself on taking a sincere interest in each one of her clients.

 

Kristen Koski

Kristen Koski is a valued member of the Healing Moves Foundation. She holds a B.S. degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education. She has a M.Ed. in Secondary Education – Curriculum and Instruction. Kristen has a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certification, as well as an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certification. She is a physical fitness professional, personal trainer and the group fitness manager at Double Diamond Athletic Club in Reno, Nevada. Kristen also has experience with special populations, holding certifications in specialties such as exercising during pregnancy, among many others.
